🏃‍♂️ Pierce wins regional, La Crosse boys runner-up

TRIBUNE, Kan. – The La Crosse boys cross country team finished in second place at the Greeley County 1A Regional Saturday at the Prairie Ridge Golf Course and qualified for next Saturday’s 1A state meet at the Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria.

The Leopards scored 46 points, 17 behind regional champion Meade. Quinter finished in third palce with 50 points.

La Crosse senior Blake Pierce won the regional title with a time of 17:45.95, around 15 seconds faster than Michael Gallegos of Montezuma-South Gray.

Ness City senior Seth Flax finished in seventh place with a time of 18:32.80). Jonathan Hamel of Stockton placed eighth (18:47.39). Quinter’s Eli Gruenbacher finished in ninth place (18:54.62).

The Quinter girls’ finished second to qualify for the state meet as a team. They scored 37 points, 12 behind Meade.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Leah Anstaett who finished in sixth place (22:56.32). Kaydence Kendall of La Crosse qualified for state with a ninth place finish (23:22.37).
