Orval W. Fry

Lifelong Sharon Springs, Kansas resident, Orval William Fry, 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune.

Orval was born on June 22, 1936, to Lyman Winfield and Ina Mildred (Epperson) Fry.  He was one of eight children.  He attended school in Sharon Springs, and graduated from Wallace County Community High School in 1954.  He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960.

Upon returning from the military, Orval worked as a Diesel Mechanic and had a love for farming and tractors.  He was a member of the NRA and he loved to play cards.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother Donald and one sister Colleen Barber.

He is survived by his four sisters; Emelie McAlister of Odessa, MO, Arlene (Joe) Henderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Linda Gates of Alabama and Karen (Truman) Haynes of Springfield, MO; one brother Freddie (Sandy) Fry of Myrtle Beach, SC and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 10:30 AM MT at the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Galen Crippen and Reverend Paul McNall officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Sharon Springs. 

Memorial contributions may be designated to the Greeley-Wallace County Healthcare Foundation or to the Sharon Springs United Methodist Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
