Jacquelyn Crist Dabney

Jacquelyn Crist Dabney, age 72, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024. She was born and raised in Garden City, Kansas. She graduated from Holcomb High School in Holcomb, Kansas. She obtained a B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in School/Clinical Psychology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She furthered her education and obtained an MBA from Troy State University.

After working for the Salina and Minneapolis Kansas schools for 7 years, she accepted a job with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) in Wurzburg, Germany. She continued to work with DoDDS and served as a school psychologist in Alabama, Hawaii, Belgium, Spain, England, and Japan. Jacquelyn was a member of the Association of School Psychologists.

While in DoDDs, she had the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe, Asia, and the Mediterranean. Some of her favorite places to visit were Holland, Garmish, the Great Wall of China, Israel and the Dead Sea. She was an avid traveler and loved nature. Jacquelyn was also a devout Christian and served in prayer ministries throughout her life.

She retired and settled in Florida. After retirement, she started the Freeport Republicans and served as their President.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leland & Grace Crist of Garden City, KS. She is survived by three brothers and their respected spouses: Johnny (Leveta) Crist in Phoenix, AZ; Dan (Nancy) Crist in Stonewall, CO; Mel (Jane) Crist in Garden City, KS. Jacquelyn is also survived by her daughter/ son-in-law Katrina (Julian) Brown and her grandson, Damien.

A memorial service will be held at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend, Kansas at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This is the church she grew up attending and that her Great Grandfather John Eli Crist founded and pastored. Jacquelyn wished to be cremated, so there will be no viewing. The family will spread her ashes at one of her favorite spots.
