
James I. Coker, age 95, passed away on March 8, 2026.
James I. Coker was born on January 6, 1931, in Eakly, Oklahoma, to Eddie L. Coker and Verna Faye Butler. He grew up in Oklahoma and attended high school in Alfalfa, Oklahoma.
James began his working career in the oilfield, working with Halliburton and other oilfield companies. In the early 1960s, he began working for the United States Postal Service, where he served faithfully for many years until his retirement.
James was a devoted Mason, serving as a member of the Masonic Lodge. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting, shooting, collecting firearms, and restoring cars. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and mechanical work, and he took pride in both his firearms collection and his car restoration projects. He also cherished the time he spent with family and friends.
James is survived by his children, Steve L. Coker and Mark A. Coker and his wife, Deannette, his granddaughter Catherine Lace Coker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie L. Coker and Verna Faye Butler, his wife, Pauline Coker, his sisters, Sue Malic, Betty Hammons, and Mary Crowdis, and his brothers, Glenn Coker and Tom Coker.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. at Stinemetz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the same location.
James will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of the outdoors, his passion for restoring cars, his devotion as a Mason, and his commitment to family, friends, and extended family.
