Vincent "Mike" Sauer, 78, died January 12, 2022, at his home in Dodge City. He was born on December 22, 1943, at Dodge City the son of Vincent and Margaret (Smith) Sauer.
He married Marilyn Wendel on September 28, 1963, in Cimarron, she passed away on January 12, 2022. Mr. Sauer loved working in his yard as well as gardening in his spare time. He worked as a truck driver for many years, driving for Polkinghorn Trucking, Liquid Carbonic and Kansas Feeds before retiring. He had a great sense of humor. Though not formally trained he was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. Mr. Sauer was drafted into the U.S. Army serving from November 3, 1966 to November 2, 1972.
He is survived by two sons Eric Sauer and wife Jennifer of Topeka, Kansas; Kevin Sauer and wife Christy of Manhattan, Kansas; one brother Pat Sauer and wife LaDonna of Garden City; two sisters Susan Jantz and husband Larry of Hays, Kansas: Linda Davis of Eldon, Iowa He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday January 21, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
