Maxine (Fisher) Meyer was born January 6, 1924 in Clay Center, Kansas to
Earl D. Fisher and Carrie (Hahn) Fisher. She passed away on Friday,
July 1, 2022, at the age of 98.
Maxine attended Country Elementary School and graduated from Clay
Center Community High School in 1941. On September 12, 1942 she married
Richard Meyer and they celebrated 66 years of married life. She was a
homemaker until 1964 when she was employed at the Smith County State
Bank & Trust Company starting as a Teller and retiring as Vice
President and Trust Officer.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church serving in
most of the offices in the church and the United Methodist Women. She
was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Smith Center Business
& Professional Women and Chapter AE of PEO. She served on the Smith
Center Library Board for several years. Her focus was always on her
home and family, and she was very proud of the achievements of her
children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson Joshua Yenne,
three brothers and a sister. Left to celebrate her life are her
children Gary (Mary) Meyer, Huntley, IL, Kenneth (Suzanne) Meyer,
Prescott, AZ, Diane Meyer, Lawrence, Kathy (Jack) Yenne, Smith Center;
nine grandchildren Yancy (Krista) Meyer, Michael (Kim) Meyer, Chris
(Becky) Meyer, Sarah Strydom, Bekah Phelan, Kate (Duane) Crafton, Carrie
(Scott) Laker, Erin (Theron) Johnson, Lindsay Yenne and Fiancé Jeromy
Meredith, Dylan, Sam, Sierra, Molly, Caitlin, Emma, Lillian, Ryan, Owen,
Gavin, Grace, Ella, Cora, and Logan. Other relatives and friends.
