Janet Lorene Crockett of Lewis, 87, passed away August 24, 2021, at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Pratt.

She was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Coats, Kan., the only daughter of Cecil Orland and Letha Pearl Hicks Fisher. They moved to the family farm outside Fellsburg in 1936.

Janet attended grade school in Fellsburg Jr. High in Centerview, and graduated high school in Trousdale in 1952. She attended K-State University for one year majoring in home economics and then married Floyd Daniel Crockett on Aug. 9, 1953 in Kinsley, and made their home on the north side of the same section of land as her parents where they farmed and raised cattle. They had three daughters, Brenda Renee, Candi Denise, and Shala Maureen.

A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, both of Lewis. Janet loved camping, boating and skiing at Cedar Bluff Lake almost every weekend in the summers, except for wheat harvest. It was a favorite family fun time. Janet loved all things summertime, including her love for flowers, trees, gardening, a good glass of ice tea and long summer days!  She was an excellent cook, spent many hours in the kitchen and loved cooking meals for her family and others. She loved her family fiercely and spent time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as possible!

She and Floyd just celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Brenda (John) Roenbaugh, Lewis, Candi (Bruce) Russell, Stillwater, Okla., Shala (John) Kosir, Edmond; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Tara) Roenbaugh, Tawnya Roenbaugh, Daniel Russell, Dax Russell, Drew Russell, Shane Pritchett, Marissa Kosir, Lily Kosir; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden Roenbaugh, Carson Roenbaugh, Avery Roenbaugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at Lewis United Methodist Church with Pastor Melissa Naylor and Pastor Bill Stapleton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2021 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fellsburg Cemetery, Fellsburg.
