Work to resurface an 18-mile portion of U.S. 183 in northern Phillips County is expected to begin the week of Aug. 3.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project includes a mill and overlay on U.S. 183 from the north city limits of Phillipsburg to the Nebraska state line.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane where crews are actively working and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Travelers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. KDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, follow posted signs and refrain from using hand-held mobile devices in all active work zones.

Work is expected to be completed in late September, conditions permitting.

Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $4.3 million project. For more information, contact KDOT Area Construction Manager Dan Moore at 785-302-6205 or daniel.moore@ks.gov.
