The Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau encourages all to follow current state and local health department guidelines. Please enjoy community events responsibly by practicing social distancing and by wearing a mask when you can’t distance.

The Downtown Hays Development Corporation and Wild West Festival are teaming up for 4th of July on the Bricks this weekend. Scheduled events include:

Friday, July 3

· 9AM Pickleball Tournament begins, Municipal Park (Registration at 8AM)

· 12PM Bach’s Lunch on the Bricks, Downtown Pavilion

· 6:30PM Wild West Festival Free Concert in the Park, Municipal Park. Musical acts will be Miles on End 6:30 p.m., Lucas Maddy & the Kansas Cartel 8:00 p.m., and Frank Werth & The Vibrations 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 4

· 7:30AM Downtown Hays Market, Downtown Pavilion

· 8AM Wild West Festival 5K, Hays Aquatic Park

· 10AM Wild West Festival Parade: “Hometown Heroes,” Main Street

· 11AM Block Party on the Bricks, Downtown Pavilion. Live music by DoC.

· 10PM Wild West Festival Fireworks Show, Downtown Hays & US 183 Bypass. Tune in to Mix 103.3 for music.

The 51st Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition is on display at the Hays Arts Center at 112 E. 11th St. The gallery is currently open Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., temporarily closed on Saturdays.

The Hays Community Theatre presents Steve Martin’s comedy, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” July 10-12, and July 17-19. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. Seating will be limited.

The Ellis County Fair dates are July 11-18. Check ellisco.net for a detailed schedule, which includes races at RPM Speedway, KPRA Rodeo, 4-H activities, and Monster Truck show. No advance tickets will be sold. Tickets will be $5 per person at the gate for ages 6 and up.

The Sternberg Museum of Natural History is open with a new interactive exhibit, “Into the Arctic,” which showcases over 50 original oil paintings and video by artist Cory Trépanier. You can still explore the spring exhibit “Prairie Ocean: Long Time No Sea,” which will remain up through the summer.

The Downtown Hays Market is now open every Saturday morning from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Downtown Pavilion at 10th and Main. Curbside pick up options are available.

The Bach’s Lunch summer concert series will take place at the Downtown Pavilion on the first, third, and fifth Fridays at noon. Call or email the Downtown Hays Development Office to reserve a $10 boxed lunch or bring your own.

The Hays Aquatic Park is open Monday – Saturday, Noon – 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 6 p.m.
