KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State student-athletes Reilly Madden and Isabel Robben were named MIAA Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week following a pair of conference wins over Newman and Central Oklahoma last week. Madden is the Defender of the Week, while Robben is the Goalkeeper of the Week for a second time this season.
Madden scored a game-winning goal and anchored the Tigers defensively in a pair of shutouts against NU and UCO. She played all 90 minutes of both matches, helping FHSU limit the opposition to just 8 shots in each match. Madden had the game-winning goal in the 3-0 win over Central Oklahoma, putting the Tigers up 1-0 in the first half on a goal in the 22nd minute. She broke free near the back post, burying a well-placed corner kick from Gracen Chaney in the back of the net. The three-time All-MIAA defender helped FHSU produce its sixth and seventh shutouts of the season, which is tied for second best in the MIAA.
Robben picked up her sixth and seventh clean sheets of the season, holding the opposition scoreless in a pair of home matches in MIAA play. She recorded six saves in the 2-0 win over Newman and then had to make just one save in the 3-0 win over Central Oklahoma. The results pushed her into the MIAA lead for shutouts among goalkeepers, now holding a goals against average of 0.58 for the season.
Madden and Robben join Mackenzie Dimarco of Emporia State (Offensive Athlete of the Week) as the weekly honorees from the conference office.
