Edna M. (Soukup) Buehler

Edna M. (Soukup) Buehler, Wilson, KS, passed away on November 20, 2021, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth, KS, at the age of 92. She was born on February 1, 1929, to Frank J. and Albina (Tymer) Soukup. She married Dale Buehler on June 15, 1949, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. They were blessed with four children: Gloria, Wes, Lori, and Bruce.

Edna graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1947. She then attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS, where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught at College Hill School south of Dorrance for two years. Later she worked at the Wilson Nursing Center as a Certified Nurse’s Aid for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Altar Society and VFW Auxiliary of Russell, KS.

Edna loved flowers and tending to her huge flower garden. She also loved cooking, baking, and quilting. But most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Edna is survived by her children: Gloria Martin (Danny) of Joplin, MO, Wes Buehler (Brenda) of Wilson, Lori Pflughoeft (Craig) of McPherson, KS, and Bruce Buehler of Dallas, TX; 4 grandchildren: Shane Martin (Karla), Jordan Pflughoeft (Rebecca), Mark Pflughoeft (Katherine), and Michelle Staats (Steven); 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Victor Soukup (Sharen) of Garden City, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Albina; husband, Dale; sisters Helen Mikulecky, Leona Scantland, and Irene Healey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 10AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Visitation will be on Tuesday 3PM until 8PM and a Vigil Service at 7PM at the funeral home in Wilson.
