A Hays woman has been arrested for felony theft after allegedly unlawfully using a victim's bank card to make 49 unauthorized purchases worth $12,831.

Mayra Angelica Jimenez-Torres, 31, of Hays, was allegedly asked by an acquaintance to help make an online purchase, Tim Greenwood, Hays Police deputy chief, said.

The suspect allegedly took a photo of the victim's bank card.

From May 9 to Oct 13, Jimenez allegedly made 49 unauthorized purchases using the victim's personal bank card.

The victim noticed the transactions on a statement and reported the alleged theft to the Hays Police on Oct. 19, Greenwood said.

Jimenez-Torres was arrested the same day on a requested charge of felony theft.
