Junction City - Hays scored 26 total runs in two games against Junction City to sweep the Blue Jays on Friday.
Game 1: Hays 13, Junction City 1 (6 innings)
Kal Lonsdale led off the game for Hays High with a solo home run as the Indians took care of Junction City in six innings by the score of 13-1.
Paxton Shaw doubled the lead with a single to score Brett Rhoades.
Jace Dreher used one of his two doubles in the games to drive in two runs in the top of the second for a 4-0 lead. Rhoades then drove in Jesse Taggart with a single giving Hays a 5-0 advantage.
Junction City got their only run across the plate in the bottom of the second. The remainder of the game belonged to Hays.
Beau Dreiling, Bennett Smith and Casan Hardman all scored in the top of third without the benefit of a hit.
Dreher's second double of the game scored Nash Kaiser and Londale for a 10-1 lead in the top of the fifth.
Dreiling scored on a wild pitch, Taggart on a sacrifice fly by Kaiser and Dreher drove in a run after being hit by a pitch for the 13-1 difference.
Lonsdale, Dreher, and Rhoades all recorded two hits. Lonsdale and Hardman scored three runs a piece. Taggart and Dreiling scored two each. Dreher drove in five runs.
The Indians also stole eight bases.
Cade Jennings took the victory by throwing four innings and allow just one earned run. He gave up just one hit, one walk and struck out one batter. Alex Hildebrand threw two spotless innings.
Game 2: Hays 13, Junction City 6
Hays scored 13 runs in the second game as well, but had to come from behind for the 13-6 victory over Junction City.
Kal Lonsdale once again scored the game's first run. This time after a single by Kaleb Roe. Junction City got help from the Indians in the bottom of the first to score four runs.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases with on two Hays errors and a hit batter. A single and triple scored four runs to give Junction City a 4-1 advantage.
Neither team scored until the top of the fourth when the Indians tied the game with three runs. Beau Dreiling, Cade Jennings and Casan Hardman loaded the bases to start the innings. Nash Kaiser singled to right field to score two runs. Hardman tied the game on a balk by the Junction City pitcher.
Both teams scored two runs in the fifth. Roe scored on a bunt by Dreiling. Hardman then singled to center field to score Dreiling for the 6-4 advantage.
Another Hays error and walk set the stage for the Blue Jays to tie the game with a double in the bottom half of the inning.
Hays broke the game open with a seven run sixth inning. Junction City had two errors in the inning, hit a batter and walked four. Hays recorded four hits in the same inning for the final difference of 13-6.
Hardman went 4-4 at the plate, drove in three runs and scored two. Lonsdale, Roe, and Dreiling each added two hits. Dreiling scored three times while Lonsdale, Roe and Jennings crossed home plate twice. Kaiser and Dreiling each drove in two runs.
Beau Dreiling earned the win in relief. He pitched two innings, two runs, one of which was earned, on one hit, two walks and struck out one. Paxton Shaw threw the first four innings and allowed four runs, only one was earned, four hits, no walks and struck out one. Bennett Smith closed out the game striking out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh.
Hays finishes the season at 11-12 and waits their regional destination which will be released on Saturday.
