Larks drop second straight in Colorado

LA SALLE, Colo. - The Hays Larks couldn’t hold on a late 3-1 lead and lost 7-3 to the Colorado Sox Thursday night. The Sox scored a run in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth to hand the Larks (6-3) their first two-game losing streak of the season.

Grant Lung opened the game with a double and scored on Jake Wyeth’s two-out single to left. They pushed the lead to 2-0 on Corbin Truslow’s solo homer to right in the fourth.

The Sox scored on a home run in the bottom of the inning but the Larks answered in the top of the fifth when Leo Jiminian scored on a wild pitch.

An error on a fly ball to right fielder Sean Cooper allowed the Sox to score with two outs in the sixth. A two-run homer from gave Colorado the lead an inning later. The Sox loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth then scored three runs on Ackerman’s double.

Trevor Munsch suffered the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits over two innings of relief. Starter Landon Schirer gave up one run on four hits with eight strikeouts and six walks over five innings.

The Larks continue their Colorado road trip Friday afternoon against the Colorado Pirates.
