Julia Alberta (Couture) Armbruster

Julia Alberta (Couture) Armbruster, Plainville, KS, passed away on November 20, 2021, in Plainville, at the age of 78. She was born on March 4, 1943, the third of six children, to Len G. and Audrey Quetona (Stull) Couture in rural Rooks County, Kansas, near Palco. She was married to Donald Armbruster in 1966.

Julia grew up in Rooks County and graduated from Palco High School in 1961. She cooked for the O’Loughlin School in Hays for many years and enjoyed seeing the little kids coming through the lunch line. She also drove the water truck for her husband for many years. Julia enjoyed all her grandchildren. She loved gambling and could pull a good all-nighter doing so!

Julia is survived by her children: Tamara Seglem of Kaw City, OK, Michael Wentworth (Diann) of Clearwater, KS, Lucinda Kerns of Kaw City, OK, Loralynn Housman (Terry) of Hays, KS, and Lance Armbruster (Angie) of Plainville, KS; brother, Lee Couture (Edie) of Palco, KS; sisters, Gwen Brown of Stockton, KS and Audrey Deines of Ottawa, KS; 13 grandchildren, Dustin Wentworth, Ashley Hill, Amanda Rogers, Linsey Morris, Jestine Peace, Garrison Peace, Whitney Fleenor, Ashia Hostetler, Kiowa Higdon, Maggie Housman, Elise Heim, Cheyenne Armbruster-Wahrman, and Sage Armbruster; and 22 great-grandchildren, Leland Hept, Lennon Morris, Trinity Peace, Brooklyn Fleenor (Jules), Collin Fleenor, Jared Fleenor, Amari Fleenor, Kinley Higdon, Riggs Higdon, Westin Higdon, Sebastin Wentworth, Brooke Wentworth, Jesse Smiley, Damian Rogers, Tryston Rogers, Erin Wentworth, Erik Wentworth, Harlan Crawford, Journi Leones, Easton Leones, Violet Hostetler, and Piper Housman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Len and Quetona; husband, Donald; and sisters Geraldine Warren and LaDonna Kay Kelso.
Julia was a hardworking and fun-loving woman. She knew how to have fun and enjoy life along the way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but the celebration of her life and memories will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church in Plainville. Visitation will be held on Friday 2PM until 8PM at the funeral home in Plainville.
