A drastic drop in temperature on Tuesday in Hays.
The official high temperature measured was just 49 degrees, according to the K-State Agricultural Research Center. That followed an above-average high of 86 degrees on Monday.
The cooler weather also brought some welcome rain to Hays, 0.27 of an inch at the research center south of town as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. The Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, measured 0.22 inches as of 6 a.m.

All of Ellis County except the northeast corner is in severe drought, according to the U.S./Kansas Drought monitor. An updated map will be released Thursday.
The three-day weather forecast is calling for sunshine and warmer temperatures.
