HILL CITY – TMP-Marian’s Heuer Brungardt shot a 7-over-par 78 and tied for sixth at Monday’s Hill City 2A regional at the Prairie Trails Golf Course. Brungardt will be joined at next week’s state tournament in Dodge City by Austin Carroll of Ellis and Plainville’s Noah Brewster and Jayden Morris.
The top three teams and the top five individuals not on those teams qualify for state which will be held at the Mariah Hills Golf Course.
Carroll shot a 5-over-par 76 and finished in fourth place. Brewster was one shot back of Carroll and placed fifth while Morris tied for 14th with an 84.
Ellinwood’s Drew Heinz won the individual title with a 2-under-par 69 and won by five strokes over Oakley sophomore Easton Fink.
Ellinwood won the team title with a 316, 13 strokes better than Hill City and Hoxie who both had a team score of 329. Plainville finished fourth (341), Ellis sixth (359) and TMP-Marian seventh (362).
