A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Ellis County and most of western Kansas from noon today until 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Dodge City is calling for wind and low relative humidity, creating critical wildfire conditions.
Wind will be out of the south at 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
The three-day weather forecast is for cooler temperatures through Saturday with a chance of rain Friday night.
