Daniel Lee Simpson, 90, passed away December 14, 2021, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on August 7, 1931, at Kansas City, Kansas, to Ralph & Louise (Balzer) Simpson. He married Mary Anne Bender in 1951, and she passed away in 1984. He then married Charlotte Howlier on October 13, 1985, in Hoisington, Kansas.
A Hoisington resident, Daniel spent 34 years in law enforcement for the Barton County Sheriff's Office as a deputy and undersheriff. He was also the Chief of Police in Hoisington and Wellsville. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte Howlier-Simpson of the home; a son, Daniel Simpson and wife Debbie of Kerrville, Texas; two sisters, Peggy Snell of Leawood, Kansas, and Dotty Nicely of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brandon (Renee) Sigg, Wendy (Michael) Holton, Matthew Simpson, Gary (Emily) Simpson, Cory (Jennifer) Simpson, and Christopher Draffkorn; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Mercedes. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Anne Simpson; his parents; a daughter, Mary Sigg; and his brother, Bob Simpson.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date in Texas. Memorials are designated to Kansas Sheriff’s Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
