⚽ Tiger women knock off RiverHawks

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - FHSU women's soccer won a close match over Northeastern State, 1-0, on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers scored midway through the second half and held on for the win. The Tigers improved to 6-7-3 overall and 3-6 in the MIAA, while the RiverHawks fell to 7-6-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play.

The first half was quiet for both teams with only nine combined shots. After returning from halftime scoreless, the Tigers went to work. The lone Tiger score came from Amanda Rapaduski as she created some space on the right side of the box and bent the ball nicely to the upper left corner of the net for her fifth goal of the season. The RiverHawks more than doubled the Tigers in shots, 12-5, but the Tigers put four of the five on target. Keeper Deonna Wellbrock recorded six saves in the match, helping the Tigers secure their sixth shutout victory this season and seventh shutout overall.

The Tigers will finish out the regular season next week as they travel north to take on Nebraska-Kearney on Friday (Oct. 29) with kickoff scheduled for 6 pm, then return to Hays to host Washburn for Senior Day on Sunday (Oct. 31) at 1 pm. The Tigers are tied with Rogers State for eighth in the MIAA standings going into their final two matches.
