Hays has received 1.59 inches of rain so far this week, and more rain is in the forecast.
The city received .12 inches as of 8 a.m. Monday, according to the K-State Ag Research Center. It received 1.34 inches as of observation time on Tuesday, and another .13 inches as measured Wednesday morning.
Hays has received a soggy 4.46 inches of moisture this month, which is well over the 1.5 average for March.
The average yearly moisture through March for Hays is only 2.46 inches, and the city has already received 5.25 inches of moisture to date.
Hays has a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. today.
Rain is likely with the possibly of a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of rain between 1 and 4 a.m, according to the National Weather Service. The low is forecast at 34 degrees.
Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts are expected to be between a tenth and quarter of an inch, but except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
The forecast for Thursday is sunny with a high of 54, but there is a 20 percent chance for rain again on Friday with a high of 64.
Expect skies to clear Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 60s.
