Virginia Lee (Armbruster) Loflin

Virginia Lee (Armbruster) Loflin, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home on May 18 th, 2024, to be with her lord and savior, reuniting with Billy. She was born on June 22, 1935, in Hays, Kansas to Lou and Edna (Zachman) Armbruster. She graduated in 1952 from Ellis High School and received training at Steward Beauty Academy in Salina, working first at Paul’s Beauty Shop in Hays. She and a friend traveled by train to San Bernardino California where she worked as a nanny for about a year. She then moved to Ellis and worked for Adamine Keller at the Beauty Bungalow and later ran it. She married William David Loflin on July 28, 1955, where she lived and worked alongside Billy on his family farm south of Ogallah until moving to Ellis in 1992. She was a lifelong baptized member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. She was on the church council, a member of Women of Life, the quilting group, and taught Sunday school. She made many quilts throughout her lifetime. She ran a bus for the WaKeeney school district for 30 years, gave tours at the Chrysler Boyhood Home, and worked for Ellis school district as a bus driver, lunchroom aid, and front office help while becoming “grandma” to many children. She was awarded the Teacher Hall of Fame this year by the Ellis High School Alumni Association.

Virginia is survived by. Two daughters, Tonya Keller husband Ernie of rural Trego County, and Geraldine (Jeri) Irwin/Jamison of WaKeeney. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Nicholas Keller and wife Carmen of Ellis with their children, Brielyn and Adler. Kassandra (Irwin) Nyirenda and husband Zabu of Overland Park with their daughter Brecklyn. Daniel Irwin and wife Amber of Hays with their children Bryce and Briley. Kevin Keller and wife Kylie of Ogallah with their child Cooper and one expected in June. Brian Keller and Genevieve Lariviere of Loveland, Colorado. One sister Mary Lou Walters and two brothers Ronald Armbruster and Paul Armbruster.

Preceded in death by parents Lou and Edna Armbruster, 3 sisters Geraldine, Marlaine, and Lois, husband William and son-in-law Milton Jamison.

A Prayer Service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis, KS, on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis, KS, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Ellis, KS.
