
Sue Boos, a cherished resident of Hays, Kansas, left us on February 3, 2025 to go be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born on June 4th, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to Benedict and Pauline Cruise, she moved to Hays, KS, ultimately graduating from Girls Catholic High School. Sue pursued a career in nursing, filling the role of school nurse for the Hays school district for 20 years before obtaining additional nursing certifications from Fort Hays State University and moving on to an Associate Professor of Nursing there for 11 years. She earned her MS, RN, CS and ARNP and was highly respected by her colleagues and peers, impacting the careers of many nurses throughout the region.
Sue married Jerry Boos on August 31, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays, KS. Her greatest joy was her family and she was a beacon of kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and community. She was a pillar of strength and a source of endless support, always putting others before herself.
Amongst her many talents were playing the piano, crochet, cross-stitch, and embroidery with her true love being quilting. Her work ethic, integrity, and passion were evident in everything she did, and she leaves a legacy of beauty and expertise in the creations she made.
Sue was actively involved in her community, volunteering her time and skills as a member St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, President of PEO (Chapter GS), involved with multiple book clubs and a volunteer at the city library. Her generosity and compassion knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benedict and Pauline Cruise and her grandparents. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Boos of Hays, KS, and brother Ben Cruise and wife Clara of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her children, son Kim and wife Erin of Tampa, FL, daughter Jami (Bulloch) and husband Andy of Wichita, KS and son Sean and wife Nicole of Minneapolis, MN. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Blake Bulloch and wife Cheyenne, Kale Bulloch and wife Teagan, Brooke Maxson (Bulloch) and husband Jordan, Brett Boos, Dylan Boos, Bryar Boos, and Bella Boos, as well as one great-grandson Beckett Bulloch. They will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Sue will be remembered for her boundless love, her selfless spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Curtis Carlson, OFM Cap. and Fr. Earl Befort, OFM Cap. officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Lunch and reception will follow at Rose Garden Banquet Hall, 2308 E. 8th St. To honor and celebrate Sue’s remarkable life, the family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Friday at the church.
