⚾Larks go 1-1 in Liberal on Thursday

LIBERAL – The Hays Larks and Liberal Bee Jays split a pair of Rocky Mountain Baseball League games Thursday in Liberal.

The first game was the resumption of Wednesday’s game which was postponed due to rain.

Down 2-0 after the fourth the Larks (13-4, 10-2 RMBL) got a run in the sixth on an error, making it 2-1.

The Larks Tyler LaRue tied the game at two with an eighth inning sacrifice fly and then with the bases loaded Brady Evans was hit by pitch putting Hays up 3-2.

But in the bottom of the inning Liberal scored on a double and a pair of sacrifice fly’s taking a 5-3 lead.

Reliever Hunter Parker suffered the loss for Hays. He allowed three runs on five hits in three innings.

Ben Fierenzi and Austen Jaslove each collected a pair of hits and Tyler LaRue and Brady Evans drove in runs in game one.

In game two Hays did its damage early scoring two runs on an error in the second and one more in the third on a Dylan Dreiling RBI single to go up 3-0.

Four Larks pitchers held the Bee Jays to single runs in the fourth and seventh innings as Hays earned the 3-2 victory.

Brady Rose, in his first start of the season, allowed one hit with a strikeout in three shutout innings for the win.

The Larks return home Saturday for a league matchup against Dodge City.
