DODGE CITY - The Hays High boys' soccer team gave state power Dodge City al it could handle Tuesday before falling 1-0 in overtime to the Red Demons.
It was the second straight game that went to extra periods for Hays High, now 6-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Indians battled the Red Demons to a 0-0 draw by the end of regulation play.
Dodge City (10-1, 5-0 WAC) then scored the golden goal in overtime to remain unbeaten in WAC action.
A staunch defensive effort led the Indians, who had lost 5-1 to Dodge City earlier this season, and goalkeeper Cedric Durr recorded a whopping 16 saves.
Next up for the Indians will be Thursday in a non-league road match with Junction City.
