🏀 Kahrs named finalist for WBCA Coach of the Year

ATLANTA - Fort Hays State's Talia Kahrs was a finalist for the 2024-25 WBCA NCAA Division II Coach of the Year award, announced Thursday by the coaches association.

Kahrs was one of seven coaches nationwide to be named a finalist this year. The second-year head coach led Fort Hays State to 28 wins this season, sixth most in a single season in program history. The Tigers reached 20 wins for the 14th consecutive season, extending the longest active streak in Division II.

Fort Hays State finished second in the MIAA regular season standings and reached the finals of the MIAA Championship Tournament before advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship for the second year in a row.

Kahrs now has 53 wins in her first two seasons as head coach at Fort Hays State, making her the fastest coach to 50 wins in program history.

Mike Williams of Grand Valley State was selected as the National Coach of the Year.
