⚽ Ovelar Semeniuk and Tchantcheu earn GAC Player of the Week honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Elias Ovelar Semeniuk and Dimitry Tchantcheu were honored as two of the three GAC Players of the Week, released by the conference office on Tuesday. Ovelar Semeniuk was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Tchantcheu earned Defender of the Week for a second time this year.

Ovelar Semeniuk produced a seven-point week with three goals and an assist, helping No. 13 ranked Fort Hays State to wins over No. 8 Rogers State and (RV) Southern Nazarene on the road. He had the game-winning goals in both matches. In the 4-0 shutout of Rogers State, he headed in a corner kick to put the Tigers up 1-0 in the 34th minute, then made it 2-0 Tigers in the 52nd minute by beating the keeper in a 1-on-1 situation. In the contest with Southern Nazarene, he provided an assist on the equalizing goal for FHSU in the 33rd minute and then buried a penalty kick opportunity in the 43rd minute, which turned out to be the game winner in a 2-1 contest.

Tchantcheu played 174 of a possible 180 minutes for the week, helping Fort Hays State limit the opposition to just nine shots per match. The Tigers limited No. 8 ranked Rogers State to 10 shots and Southern Nazarene to just eight shots. The only goal surrendered by the Tigers for the week was a penalty kick goal. The shutout of Rogers State was Fort Hays State's sixth shutout of the season in nine total matches.

Ovelar Semeniuk and Tchantcheu joined Cameron McCulloch of Northeastern State (Goalkeeper of the Week) as the weekly honorees from the GAC office.
