🏃‍♀️ HHS girls' second, boys fifth at JC Invite

MILFORD LAKE – The Hays High girls had seven runners finish in the top-20 and finished second at the Junction City Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Milford Lake. The Indians scored 54 points, 18 back of first place Junction City.

Arely Maldonado paced the Indians with a time of 21:07.00 and finished in fifth place. Brenlynn Albers was right behind in sixth place, seven seconds back of Maldanado. Amelia Jaeger placed 13th (21:58), Nayeli Cisneros 16th (22:20), Brynn Kinderknecht 17th (22:24), Avery Winter 18th (22:34) and Julia Zaadina 19th (22:44).

The junior varsity had six runner medal in the JV race led by Mika Zimmerman who finished first (23:14).

The Indian boys finished in fifth place with 95 points. Junction City won the team title with 32 points, 43 better than second place Clay Center.

Leo Hernandez and Taevian Maupin both medaled for Hays. Hernandez placed seventh (18:21) and Maupin 11th (18:43).

Four junior varsity runners in the JV race. Carter Muehleisen was eighth (20:23). Daimon Lang ninth (20:24), Gavin Flaska 13th (21:28) and Corben Avery 17th (21:43).
