
Dennis Thomas, 75, died on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Lane County
Hospital in Dighton. He was born on February 25, 1946, at Dodge City the
son of Jack P. & Helen A. (Hineman) Thomas. He married Judy
Kellams on April 23, 1966, at Dighton.
Dennis graduated with the Class of 1964 from Dighton High School where
he was involved in all sports. He then attended Kansas State
University. He entered into the United States Army Reserves and took
his basic training at Fort Lewis. He served in the reserves for 6 years
and was discharged as Sergeant First Class. He returned to Dighton
where he was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St Theresa Catholic
Church, American Legion Post # 190 and 4th Degree of Knights Of
Columbus. His special interests were camping, fishing, playing poker
and especially attending his Grandchildren’s sporting events. Dennis
was in charge of the American flags being flown at Dighton Memorial
Cemetery for veteran’s funerals and Memorial Day.
He is survived by his Wife- Judy Thomas, 2 Daughters- Susan & Jack
Chapman and Shannan & Jeff Lingg both of Dighton, 2 Sons- Michael
& Kate Thomas of Scott City and Steffan & Michelle Thomas of
Hays and 9 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents,
Daughter- Tena Michelle Thomas and Brother- Jerry Thomas.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Monday at St Theresa Catholic Church in
Dighton with Rev Don Bedore and Rev Bernard Felix as Celebrants. The
Mass will be facebook live on the Garnand Funeral Home facebook page.
Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by
United States Army Reserves Honor Guard and American Legion Post # 190
Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at
Boomhower Funeral Home.
