Kansas woman dies after SUV rollover crash

SMITH COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 9 p.m. Tuesday in Smith County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Chevy Traverse driven by Daniel C. Prowse, 62, Natoma, was southbound on Kansas 181 Highway at 220 Road.

The SUV left the roadway and entered the west ditch. The driver overcorrected, crossed the southbound lane, crossed the center line and the driver overcorrected again.

The SUV re-entered the west ditch struck a culvert in ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its passenger side.

A passenger identified as Wanda R.Prowse, 69, Natoma, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Rentschler Family Mortuary.  EMS transported the driver to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP. 

There was a juvenile present in the vehicle. The information on the juvenile is protected data, according to the KHP.
