LILBURN, Ga. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team held steady at No. 6 in the latest release of the WBCA Coaches Poll, released Tuesday (Jan. 6) by the coaches organization.

Now 12-1 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play, this is the first time this season that the Tigers have stayed in the same position in the poll for consecutive weeks. FHSU has occupied six different spots in the top 10 through eight releases of the poll, climbing as high as No. 3 after opening the year ninth in the preseason ranks.

Defending national champion Grand Valley State held on to the top spot again this week, with Minnesota State slotted as a unanimous No. 2 choice. Pittsburg State is the only other MIAA team listed in the poll, with the Gorillas moving up two spots to No. 11.

This is the 11th time the Tigers have been ranked sixth in the NCAA Division II coaches poll. FHSU is 15-3 when ranked sixth, 197-49 overall when ranked and 143-29 when slotted inside the top 10. The Tigers have now been ranked 128 times in the team's DII era, including 87 appearances inside the top 10.

The Tigers play two more conference games on the road this week to wrap up a stretch of four games in eight days. FHSU will first take on Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday (Jan. 6, 5:30 p.m.) before traveling across the state to battle Emporia State on Thursday (Jan. 8, 5:30 p.m.).
