Larry James Wiedeman, 82, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

Larry was born August 8, 1942, in WaKeeney, Kansas, the son of Alvin and Olinda (Rohn) Wiedeman.  He was a resident of Rush County, Kansas, for  many years, moving there from Trego County, Kansas, for his employment.  A 1960 graduate of WaKeeney High School, WaKeeney, Kansas, Larry enrolled in the first telecommunications class at Goodland Vo-Tech, Goodland, Kansas.

Larry worked for Golden Belt Telephone Association, Rush Center, Kansas, for 40 years before his retirement.  He began his career with Golden Belt Telephone Association in 1963.  At the time of his retirement, he had been employed by Golden Belt Telephone Association longer than any employee.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

He was a United States Army veteran.

Larry loved being a cattle rancher.

On September 9, 1970, he married Angela R. “Angie” Rein in Colby, Kansas.  She preceded him in death August 13, 2009.

Survivors include:  two daughters, Heidi Holopirek (Jay), La Crosse, Kansas, and Heather Moore (Merlin), Coldwater, Kansas; five grandchildren, Garrett Holopirek, Kansas City, Kansas, Paige Holopirek, Lawrence, Kansas, Cade Holopirek, La Crosse, Kansas, Jared Moore, Wichita, Kansas, and Karley Moore, Manhattan, Kansas; and one sister in law, Pat Wiedeman, WaKeeney, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Delbert Wiedeman; and one sister, Mary Ann Pearson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas. 

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Scott Tempero officiating.  Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Rush County EMTs, or the La Crosse Brookdale Fire District #4, La Crosse, Kansas.
