Kathryn Jane (Basinger) Driver

Kathryn Jane (Basinger) Driver, 90, passed away Sept 28, 2022.  She was born in Wichita KS, Sept 14, 1932.

She attended elementary and junior high schools in Wichita.  After her father returned home from WWII the family moved to Garden City; while there, she completed high school.  She ultimately received her BA degree in Business Administration – Public Administration from the College of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, NM at the age of 59. 

She married Dr. Richard “Kay” Driver and lived in Goodland, KS; she was a homemaker and loved to play golf at Sugar Hills Country Club, where she was the Ladies Club Champion in the early 1970s.  In 1975 she moved back to Garden City and worked in the insurance industry.  Her twin sister suggested she relocate to New Mexico where she worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Upon retiring she moved to Albuquerque, NM.  In 2000, she joined her son and his family in Salina.   Jane’s passion for nature, gardening, and Southwest Indian culture was always evident in her jewelry she wore and her home décor.  She was a proud master gardener and an avid KSU fan.  She was very active in hr church serving as a Deacon and Elder at the Salina First Presbyterian Church.

She leaves behind; son, Dr. Kenton Driver (Dr. Stacy Clark), and their children, Bailey and Benjamin; grandson, Kirby Driver Jr (Brenda), their children, Kaylee, Kirby and Kamden of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Kelly Driver, and her daughter, Kennedy of Dallas, TX; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Driver of Dallas, TX.  Preceded in death by son, Kirby Driver; her twin sister, Kathleen Joan Holliway; and parents, Clayton and Eloise Basinger.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct 10, 2022 at the Salina First Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the donor’s choice, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the Salina First Presbyterian Church, Social Justice and Missions.
