DECATUR COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 3p.m. Wednesday in Decatur County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Ford Escape driven by Susan Bandimere Brown, 51, Arvada, Colorado, was westbound on U.S. 36 one mile east of U.S. 83.
The SUV was approaching a westbound 1999 Mack Truck and trailer driven by Trent Townsend, 56, Oberlin.
The SUV attempted to pass as the truck began to make a left turn.
The SUV collided with the left side of the truck. After impact, both vehicles traveled south off the highway and came to rest in the south ditch in a windbreak.
EMS transported Brown to the hospital in Oberlin. Townsend was not transported for treatment. Both driver were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
