HAYS - The Hays Larks took advantage of 10 walks and five Denver errors and beat the Cougars 9-2 in their series opener Thursday night at Larks Park.
Five of the Larks batters who reached via base on balls scored and only five of their nine runs were earned.
Max McGuire and Leo Jiminian both had two hits including a double. McGuire drive in two runs.
Starter Wyatt Divis pitched five scoreless innings allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking none for the win.
