Wyeth big day helps Larks end three-game skid

Jake Wyeth had four hits including a home run and drive in six runs to lead the Hays Larks to a 15-4 victory over the Colorado Pirates Saturday, ending their three-game losing streak.

The game was called with two outs in the bottom of the sixth due to rain.

Wyeth grounded into a double play which scored a run in the first inning. He then singled in the second, homered in the third, singled in the fifth then singled again in the sixth.

The Larks (7-4) scored six in the second with Grant Lung, Wyatt Divis, Wyeth and Corbin Truslow all driving in runs. They added three in the third on a three-run homer from Wyeth to make the score 10-2.

Starter Ryan Ruder gave up four runs on seven hits over five innings with six strikeouts and no walks and picked up the win.

The Larks had 18 hits in the game. Along with Wyeth’s homer, Palmer Hutchison and Wyatt Divis both hit doubles.

Hays closes out their Colorado road trip Sunday at the Boulder Collegians.
