⚾ Monarchs swept in Great Bend

GREAT BEND - The TMP-Marian baseball team was held to four hits and committed 12 errors and was swept by Great Bend Tuesday at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Monarchs dropped the opener 14-1 then lost the second contest 4-2.

TMP is now 3-7 on the season. They are scheduled to host Russell in a doubleheader on Friday.

Game 1: Great Bend 14, TMP-Marian 1 (5 innings)
The Panthers scored early and often in the five inning run-rule victory. Two errors and a walk led to three runs in the first. They added four in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth.

TNP scored their only run in the third on a Carson Liles single. Liles finished with two of the Monarchs four hits.

Drew Werth allowed two earned runs on five hits over two innings and took the loss.

Game 2: Great Bend 4, TMP-Marian 2
Three Panther pitchers combined to no-hit the Monarchs.

Great Bend scored a run in the fourth then added two in the fifth to complete the doubleheader sweep.

The Panthers took advantage of a leadoff error and scored a run in the first. The Monarchs tied the game with a run in the top of the second. Ian Nehls was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning then eventually scored on an error.

TMP scored their other run in the seventh. Michael Hale was walked to lead off the inning  and later scored on a passed ball.

Garrett Feauto allowed two unearned runs on three hits over 4 1/3 innings and took the loss.
