Per-day virus rate in Ellis Co. remains at 1; 8 new cases identified

The Ellis County Health Department on Friday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days remained at one.

There eight new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Monday. There are currently 16 active cases, including two active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,695 recovered cases.

As of Wednesday, there were three COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, with two of those active patients and one in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose from 2.3 percent Monday to 3.6 percent Wednesday.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,711 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 73 coronavirus-related deaths.

"Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
