Delphine Stramel age 93, of Hays, Kansas passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Via Christi Village Nursing Home in Hays, Kansas.

She was born on October 30, 1932, in Pfeifer, Kansas to Joseph G, and Rosie (Schmidt) Urban.  She married Verlin G Stramel on September 25, 1954, in Pfeifer, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2015.

Delphine was a homemaker, she grew up and attended school in Pfeifer.  She and Verlin lived in Pfeifer for a year after they got married, then made their home and raised their family in Hays.  She was very devoted to her faith and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays.         

While growing up in Pfeifer she worked at Leo’s Stramel Grocery Store and after raising her family she stocked greeting cards at Hallmark and Food Bonanza for a number of years.  Delphine was a wonderful cook, did a lot of canning, and gardening.  She enjoyed playing cards, taking bus trips, going gambling, crocheting, latch hook, and spending time with her family. 

Delphine is survived by her children, Glenn Stramel and wife, Rhonda, Munjor, KS; Eileen Dreher and Husband, Terry, Hays, KS; Cindy Weigel and husband, Bob. Hays, KS; Kevin Stramel and wife, Pam, Hays, KS; Wes Stramel and wife, Marie, Hays, KS; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and her five Meier’s family nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph G. and Rosie (Schmidt) Urban; her husband Verlin G. Stramel; her daughter-in-law, Lynette Stramel; her grandson, Brian Stramel; her sister, Geraldine Meier and husband, LaVern; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen M. and Pauline (Wittman) Stramel; her brother-in-law, Wilbert Stramel; and her five infant brothers and sisters.                   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Holy Cross Church, Pfeifer, Kansas with Concelebrants, Father Michael Leiker; Father Reginald A. Urban; and Father Andy Hammeke.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer, Kansas.

A Vigil Service and Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays led by Deacon Dave Kisner.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer, Kansas.
