HAYS - Hays finished off their three game season series with Garden City on Friday evening with a 6-1 victory.

The Indians danced in and out of trouble all night on their way to victory. Hays committed two errors, walked nine batter, hit two more and allowed four hits. All of that totaled just one run for Garden City.

The Buffaloes had runners aboard in every inning. They had runners in scoring position in all but one inning and loaded the bases in four innings.

Hays scored three runs in two different innings. Brett Rhoades drove in the first run with an opposite field single to score Kal Lonsdale. Beau Dreiling drew a bases loaded walk to score Kaleb Roe who was running for Jace Dreher who also walked. Cade Jennings then drove in Rhoades with a fielder's choice to wrap up the three run third.

Hays doubled their run total in the fifth. Dreher led off with a single and Rhoades reached on an error. Paxton Shaw also reached on an error that scored Roe as the courtesy runner again for Dreher. Beau Dreiling put down a bunt on a suicide squeeze that scored both Rhoades and Shaw for a 6-0 lead.

Garden City scratched across a run in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded walk but advance no other runners home.

Rhoades took the win on the mound working 5 1/3 innings allowing three hits and no runs. He walked five, hit two and struck out four. Dreiling pitched the final 1 2/3 inning allowing one run, on one hit, walked four and struck out two.

Hays hosts the Diamond Classic next Friday and Saturday in a four team round robin with TMP, Manhattan and Life Prep.
