Dave Allen Schamberger, 68, of Hoxie, Kansas, died on March 29, 2026, after battling depression for many years.

Dave was born on November 27, 1957, to Clarence and Zita (Munk) Schamberger at Sheridan County Hospital. From a young age, he was involved in farm work and often told his children and grandchildren that he was milking cows at the age of three.

During his school years, Dave developed a passion for wrestling. He had a very successful high school career, earning two State Championships and a Grand State Runner-up title, and received an offer to wrestle for the University of Oklahoma in Norman. After graduating from Hoxie High School in 1976, he began farming with his father.

Dave had a passion for spending time in the field, whether it be planting, tilling, or harvesting with his John Deere equipment. He also operated a successful cow/calf operation that kept him busy during the slower farming seasons. His dedication to his work continued through his retirement in 2023.

Dave dedicated his life to his farm and his family. He met Lisa at a wedding dance and then married her on June 4, 1983. They were blessed with two children, Kurt and Adrienne. He placed responsibilities of faith, family, and the farm first in his life and strove to instill those values in his children. Though he worked tirelessly, he always made time for friends and family. Dave had an ornery sense of humor and loved to tease others and make people smile.

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed visiting with friends and acquaintances in the community. Spending time with his grandchildren was especially important to him. He also enjoyed attending events, dining out, playing games, and taking trips for mountain skiing to relax during the winter months. Dave cherished tractor rides with his grandchildren. He generously gave his time volunteering with the Elks, Knights of Columbus, and ministries at the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Baalman) Schamberger; his son, Kurt (Leslie) Schamberger; his daughter, Adrienne (Cole) Halbleib; and his grandchildren, Ava, Jack, Hanna, Brady, and Calvin. He is also survived by his brothers, Leonard (Charlene) Schamberger of Sedalia, Colorado, and Donald (Tamera) Schamberger of Hoxie, Kansas; his sisters, Deb (Logan) Keith of Morland, Kansas, and Sharon (Robert) Grisolia of Olathe, Kansas; his parents-in-law, Murray and Mildred Baalman of Grinnell, Kansas; his sisters-in-law, Laurie Baalman of Austin, Texas, and Beth (Pete) Mulligan of Richardson, Texas; his brothers-in-law, Maurice (Nancy) Baalman of Harrisonville, Missouri, Roger (Nancy) Baalman of Owasso, Oklahoma, Steve (Stacey) Baalman of Topeka, Kansas, and Tim (Jennifer) Baalman of Oakley, Kansas; as well as 25 nieces and nephews and five special godchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Zita Schamberger; his grandparents, Ray and Barbara (Riedel) Schamberger and Theodore and Rosemary (Kippes) Munk; and his brother-in-law, Brad Welling.
