GARDEN CITY - Hays High went 2-2 at the Western Athletic Conference volleyball championship on Saturday in Garden City.
The Indians opened the day with a loss in three sets to Garden City. Garden City won the opening set 25-17. Hays bounced back with a 25-16 win in set two. The Buffaloes took the match with a 25-22 win in the third. The loss broke a 12 match winning streak for Hays.
Hays swept Liberal in the next match 25-17, 25-19. The Indians then fell to Great Bend 25-20, 25-21. The Panthers ended up going 4-0 to win back-to-back conference titles.
The Indians ended the day with a victory over Dodge City in three sets. Hays won the opening set 25-12, dropped the middle 25-17, then took the final set of the regular season 25-17.
Hays ends the regular season at 27-8. They will be on the road for sub-state play Saturday, October 26th. The top four teams in 5A West will be the host sites. The destination for Hays is to be determined.
