Doris Elizabeth Stevens

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident, Doris Elizabeth Stevens, 86, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington.

Doris was born on June 15, 1935 in Stratton, Colorado to Ruth and R.D. Spurlin.  She was one of four children.  She attended school at Solid Center School and Stratton Schools, graduating from Stratton High School in 1953.

On September 29, 1953, Doris married Dallas George Stevens at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton.  To this union, six children were born; Dana, Debbie, Diane, Devona, Dee and Derek.

In 1958, Doris and Dallas started D & D Cleaners in Burlington, where she worked as a seamstress up until the time of her death.  Doris’ hobbies included sewing, coloring, taking pictures, gardening and listening to her music.  She always kept in touch with her grandkids through texting and pictures, and she always loved a fresh bouquet of flowers.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter Debbie Knapp, her sister Donna Krei, and two brothers Bob and Duane Spurlin.

She is survived by her husband Dallas of 67 years of Burlington, her children Dana Stevens of Burlington, Diane (Rob) Windell of Kanorado, KS, Devona (Randy) Jensen of Goodland, KS, Dee Herman of Denver, CO, Derek (Kara) Stevens of Burlington, and her son-in-law Butch Knapp of Burlington.  She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren; Arianne Knapp, Krystal Knapp, Brett Knapp, Brian Windell, Denny (Delci) Windell, Mathew Windell, Andy Windell, Brooke (Brian) Bauman, Brielle (Colton) Cooper, Lindsey (Vic) Butler, Mitch (Meredith) Herman, Jesse Herman, Jake Herman, Olivia Stevens, Declan Stevens, Brogan Stevens, Sheridan Stevens, Cavan Stevens and Lochlan Stevens, fifteen great grandchildren; Kingston Knapp, Paxton Knapp, Rory Knapp, Adalyne Windell, Brecken Bauman, Bayler Bauman, Bellamy Bauman, Kaizen Cooper, Bostynn Cooper, Aspyn Butler, Legend Butler, Lennox Butler, Hayes Herman, Julian Herman and Trey Herman.
