COSTA RICA – Fort Hays State junior forward Montserrat Diaz was selected to the 2024 Costa Rica national team assembled for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, set to begin in late August in Columbia. Diaz has played 39 matches over two seasons at FHSU, helping the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
Diaz has 21 points in her career at FHSU, including nine goals, three assists, and five game-winning goals.
Pool play for the U-20 World Cup begins on August 31 and runs through September 8. Costa Rica will play its three pool play matches between September 2-8, set to face Netherlands (Sept. 2), Korea DPR (Sept. 5), and Argentina (Sept. 8). The first two matches will be at Estadio Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Columbia and the match vs. Argentina will be at Estadio El Techo in Bogota, Columbia. Should Costa Rica advance past pool play, Round of 16 bracket play begins on September 11 and runs all the way through the final on September 22.
