HAYS - Hays High School hosted the Maroon & Gold Kickoff Scrimmage on Friday evening. Hays Middle School started the evening with a scrimmage at 5:00.
The boys' soccer, volleyball, cross country, girls' tennis, and girls' golf teams were all introduced. The cheer and dance teams were also introduced and performed their routines. The marching band also played and started the evening with the national anthem.
The football team scrimmaged for roughly an hour starting at seven. A brief halftime was held when the Hays High Athletic Booster Club presented the athletic department with an $80,000 donation.
Six food trucks from Hays were on hand for the evening. All fall student-athletes that were on a roster were given $10 in meal vouchers to use from the Athletic Booster Club. Athletes were also provided with bottles of cold water on the hot night that were donated to the Athletic Booster Club by Hays Walmart.
