First Call for Help receives $10,000 grant from Union Pacific

First Call for Help of Hays received a $10,000 donation from the Union Pacific Foundation on Friday.

Union Pacific officials were on hand for the arrival of the Big Boy steam locomotive into Hays Friday.

Linda Mills, executive director of First Call for Help, said the funds will be used toward general operating purposes.

The nonprofit provides rent and utility assistance, food, diapers, Meals on Wheels and housing for Ellis County residents facing homelessness through its new First Step Housing Project.
