After a high of 102 degrees Monday, the temperature cooled off a little as a summertime thunderstorm moved through Hays during the evening hours and overnight.
The official total amount of rain measured at the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town was 1.46 inches. The Eagle Media Center, 2300 Hall, received 1.50 inches.
Flash flood warnings were issued for Ellis and Trego Counties from just before 8 p.m. until 1 a.m.
Hays still remains about an inch below normal for the month of July and the year-to-date.
Average monthly moisture for July is 3.33 inches. As of July 21, Hays has received 2.39 inches. Average moisture for the year to-date is 14.67 inches. Hays has measured 13.43 inches so far in 2025.
