Gloria Charlene Lloyd was guided by angels to her awaiting family, friends, and Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 14, 2026.  To those who knew her -- or even those who just passed her in a tattoo parlor or as she picked roadside wildflowers -- Gloria was a true rebel.

Born in East Detroit on June 15, 1943, Gloria had a loving childhood full of adventures with family.  She attended East Detroit High School before earning her degree in nursing at Brigham Young University.  Gloria spent much of her life helping others as a nurse and hospital administrator.

She always dreamed of being a mother, and her dreams came true with her four children who have fond memories of Friday family nights and hiking in the Rockies.  Gloria was also a mother to many fur babies including Rusty, Benny, and Junebug.  The same passion that guided her family also made her quite the social butterfly, gathering friends and stirring romance wherever she went.

Gloria was a deeply spiritual person, and her faith brought her comfort throughout her life.  She was also very giving, often donating to charities dear to her heart and volunteering to brighten the lives of others.  Gloria enjoyed gardening, vacationing, playing tennis, her sticker collection, and spending time with family and friends.

She is now with her mother, Rosella; father, Ferdinand; brother, Richard; brother, Gordon; brothers who passed in infancy; and her beloved animals.

Her legacy will be carried on by her children, Lisa Johnson and her husband John, Laura Higgins, Linda Elliott and her husband Scott, and Stephen Lloyd and his wife Anne Marie, and their families including eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandbaby.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in Hays, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday at the church.  Burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday in Ascension Cemetery in Bel Aire, with Fr. Charles J. Polifka, OFM Cap. officiating.  Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.  Services are in the care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and condolences and memories of Gloria may be shared with her family at www.haysmemorial.com
