Madelyn Rose (Trecker) Senk

Madelyn Rose (Trecker) Senk, age 76, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Hays, KS, passed away Saturday, May 25th, 2024, at Benton House of Olathe with her family by her side. She was born on December 27, 1947, in Carroll, IA, to Harold and Cleo (Poush) Trecker.

Madelyn graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. She later attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, and graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS.

She worked at Hays High School as a Journalism and English teacher, and was also a business owner, a realtor, and a social worker/counselor.

She married Howard B. Peters on July 2, 1966. She later married John Senk on June 10, 2002.

Madelyn was strong in her faith, and was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish in Overland Park, KS.

Her hobbies included playing cards, sewing, reading and writing, going to the movies, and being an avid Chiefs and Royals fan.

She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved spending time with them and attending their events.

Madelyn is survived by six children, twenty-one grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren (with one more due in November), as well as three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chuck Peters of Lindsborg, KS, and his children: Andrew Peters and wife, Helayna, and their baby girl due November 2024; Belle Peters; Noelle Peters; Breanne Peters; and Bridget Peters.

Dan Peters and wife, Tammy, of Olathe, KS, and their children: Leighton Peters and wife, Meghan, and their son, Oliver; Dylan Peters; and Brooke Peters.

Nick Peters and wife, Karen, of Purcellville, VA, and their children: Alek Peters and wife, Lori, and their sons, Lane and Parker; Erik Peters; and Calli Peters.

P.J. Peters and wife, Jessica, of Olathe, KS, and their children: Skylar Peters; Jace Peters; Nash Peters; and Blakely Peters.

Jason Peters and wife, Ashley, of Overland Park, KS, and their children: Emmitt Peters; Melia Peters; and Nolan Peters.

Step-children: Danielle Fortenberry and her son, Rylan; and Sean Senk and wife, Shaelen, and their son, Isaiah.

Sisters: Peggy Mangano and significant other, Ken Teague; Marilyn Michaud; and Barbara Trecker.

Sisters-in-law: Vivian Wielgos and husband, Ron; and Margene Nickel and husband, Bill.

Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband and the father of her children, Howard Peters; her husband, John Senk; her brothers, Ronald Trecker and Robert Trecker; and her sister, Janet King.

A Visitation for Madelyn will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 2:15-3:15 P.M., at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, followed immediately by a Funeral Mass.

Madelyn's final resting place will be White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone, MO.
