Deloris Ann (Pratt) Zink

Deloris Ann (Pratt) Zink, 85, Hays, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at her home.

She was born May 24, 1935, in Osborne County, Kansas, the daughter of Norman and Lucille (Dixon) Pratt. 

In 1966, she and her husband settled in Leoti where they raised their children and operated a veterinary practice.  She lived in Topeka from 1991 until 2016 before moving to Hays, where she spent the remainder of her life.  Deloris was active in the community and a member of United Methodist Church in Leoti and Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church in Tecumseh.  She was a fixture at her children’s band, vocal, drill team, sporting, and church events.  Later in life, she was passionate about Washburn Ichabod basketball and found a new role in life working at the Combat Air Museum with “the guys."  She will be missed by her family and her many friends from all the different parts of her life. 

Survivors include her son: Greg Zink and wife Donna of Carthage, MO, two daughters: Shelley Zink Pitts and husband Lynn of Hays and Carol Zink and special friend Kathy Garcia of Corrales, NM, her brother: Norman Pratt, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren: Renee Butler and husband Will of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy Denham and husband BJ of Hays, and Cory Pitts and wife Kaisley of Derby, six great grandchildren: Lliam Butler, Levi Denham, Lila Denham, Phinn Butler, Linkon Denham, and Elliot Butler, her nephew: Randy Pratt, and her best friend: Clyde Hinkle.

She is preceded in death by her brother: Don Pratt and her sister-in-law: Judy Pratt.  

A Celebration of Deloris’ Life will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at High Plains Baptist Church in Hays, with Pastor Russell Kirkpatrick officiating.  Memorials may be made payable to: Combat Air Museum, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Condolences and memories of Deloris may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
